Treasure Trove of Health-Promoting Foods

I love summer. Not just because of the chance to wear my favorite cut-offs and comfy tees, but because of the variety of produce that shows up in the markets.

The picture above is from a supermarket on a recent trip to the TX Hill Country. They had mountains of mushrooms (even $999/lb truffles!--seriously!) and seasonal produce not found often (like fiddlehead ferns).

Eating fresh produce and creating meals with tons of flavor is exciting and fun.

I love discovering new treasures in the grocery store...

The future of the butcher counter is here. At HEB's Central Market in Austin, you can now buy plant-based prepared "meats." Kabobs, steaks, "neat" balls, the list goes on. And they have sauces and dressings to go with them -- all of which are totally possible to be made at home, but the store-prepared convenience is so nice!

What's your favorite thing that you have discovered in the produce aisle lately?
