No. Just use your open mind and a willing attitude. Most of my clients are not 100% plant-based and they get amazing, clinically significant results, let alone feeling better too! You’ll find a “happy place” between you and plant-based foods.

Great question! In private coaching sessions, I often work with clients to make meal plans, grocery lists, recipe portfolios and pantry make-overs.
The KEY is personalized support. That means you get practical guidance based on your preferences to put into action, instead of a random list you might not even like.

Like a volume dial on a radio, you have control over how much you “turn up” plants in your dietary eating pattern. Typically, the “louder” the plants are (prevalence) the more health benefits you enjoy (today and in future health outcomes).
Many SYW clients go on a 75/25 to 90/10 plant-based diet and they get impressive results!

Just like buying a car or fine jewelry, you want quality and something that will last. National Board Certified coaches have studied and tested just like they would need to in college. The same Medical Board of Examiners that tests doctors for their licenses, tests NBC-HWC candidates.
You can rest assured that a NBC-HWC qualified coach is well-versed in overall health & chronic disease, knows how lifestyle & nutrition affect health, and (here’s the BIG difference) are skilled at positive strategies for long-term change. No weekend course or “coaching program” provides the depth of knowledge and skill that a NBC-HWC coach has.
In addition to NBC-HWC qualifications, look for other specialties. I am also Lifestyle Medicine certified and hold certificates in plant-based nutrition and cooking. So you get to benefit from all that info!

I commonly work with women navigating midlife concerns like weight gain, low energy, brain fog, joint pain, and stubborn cholesterol or blood pressure issues. I also support women living with or at risk for chronic conditions such as prediabetes or type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome, and digestive issues like reflux or IBS. While I don’t diagnose or treat disease, my coaching focuses on using nutrient-dense, whole‑food, plant‑centered eating and realistic lifestyle habits to help you feel better, support your medical care, and improve your day‑to‑day quality of life.

The NBHWC, my accrediting body, defines health and wellness coaching as a client-centered process where coaches partner with clients who seek self-directed, lasting changes aligned with their values. The goal is to promote health and wellness while enhancing overall well-being.
Unlike traditional consulting, coaching is built on the belief that the client is the expert in their own life. The coach acts as an accountability partner and facilitator, not a director or "expert" teller.
The coach may also use specialty training to enhance the client experience, and offers information as evidence-backed support so the client can have confidence in the accuracy of information presented.
The American College of Lifestyle Medicine, of which I’m a member, is on the forefront of using food as medicine. They stand by sound research and advocate for a plant-predominant diet plus 5 other pillars for optimal health. That said, I teach and help clients with practical tools and info that’s based on the same research. It’s life-changing!
